THE NEED FOR TBP

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, transitional housing needs and services are at an all-time high.

Homelessness is one of our nation's most grave social problems.

The Bethel Project’s central goal is to provide transitional housing and essential resources and services that help to reduce the incidences of homelessness within the DFW area.

We will also assist low-income and homeless individuals with food, clothing, hot showers, counseling services, and community resources.

While homelessness is often the result of interwoven systemic and personal problems, the main cause of homelessness is the growing gap between housing costs and income.

Other factors include personal trauma and crisis such as divorce, domestic violence or abuse, relocation, illness, and death of a loved one to name a few. Consequently, there is an underserved population of women within the community who are employed and are re-entering society with literally no place to live. The Bethel Project will focus on the women facing these issues.

The emergency shelter system can accommodate only a small fraction of the growing number of homeless individuals. They are also unable to provide the intensive long-term assistance that the homeless need to initiate stability in their lives.

Women often do not want to go to these shelters because they are unsafe and unsanitary. And motels are an expensive alternative.

WHAT WE DO

Expected Program Results

Over a 5-year period, our organization will offer food, clothing, shelter, supportive counseling, life skills, employment assistance, and job skill development to no less than 100 homeless participants.

We will assist them to become self-sufficient through life skill development and other services. Services will be provided for a continuous period not exceeding 24 months.

We expect that 100% of program graduates will obtain permanent housing. All participants will maintain permanent jobs.

MISSION

Dedicated to obtaining permanent housing and regaining stability for working women at risk of homelessness due to (such crises and traumatic events as) financial hardship, domestic violence or abuse, divorce, relocation, illness of self or loved one (COVID or other), by offering safe and secure transitional housing facilities, life coaching, and counseling (including increasing and managing income).

VISION

We would like to see all vulnerable women at risk of homelessness have permanent housing because we believe that shelter is a basic human right.

PURPOSE

Providing transitional housing and life coaching for single working women.
